Math Problem Solving
LectureSidebar provides step-by-step AI teaching with TTS voice narration, LaTeX rendering, SVG handwriting animation, and interactive Q&A.
LectureSidebar Workflow
LectureSidebar is SparkLumina’s AI teaching interface for math and problem solving. Paste a problem (algebra, calculus, geometry, etc.) into the sidebar, and the AI breaks it down into clear, sequential steps. Each step appears on the canvas with structured content: equations, diagrams, and explanatory text. The flow feels like a one-on-one tutor session.
SSE Streaming
The teaching content is delivered via Server-Sent Events (SSE) streaming. Steps arrive incrementally—you see the first step immediately, then the second, and so on. No need to wait for the full solution. This keeps the experience responsive and lets you pace your learning.
Step Navigation
Navigate between steps with previous/next controls. Jump to any step to review or revisit. Steps are persisted on the canvas, so you can scroll back through the solution, zoom in on specific equations, or compare earlier and later steps side by side.
TTS, LaTeX, and SVG Handwriting
Each step can include:
-
TTS (text-to-speech): The AI’s explanation is spoken aloud. Enable TTS to hear the reasoning while reading—ideal for auditory learners or accessibility.
-
LaTeX rendering: Mathematical expressions are rendered as proper equations. Fractions, integrals, summations, and matrices display correctly. LaTeX blocks are editable if you want to tweak or explore variations.
-
SVG handwriting animation: Key strokes or diagrams can be animated as if written by hand. The SVG path is revealed incrementally, simulating a tutor writing on the board. This draws attention to important steps and mimics traditional blackboard teaching.
Interactive Q&A
At any step, you can ask a follow-up question. Type your question in the chat; the AI responds in context, perhaps clarifying that step or adding a worked example. The Q&A is threaded with the current step, so the conversation stays organized. Perfect for “why did you do that?” or “what if the problem had X instead of Y?”
Recording for Async Learning
Record the session (canvas + TTS + your interactions) and export as MP4. Students who missed the live session can watch the recording later. The step-by-step flow and voice narration make it suitable for async learning and review.
